Britannia International has unveiled a 50:50 guaranteed bond that promises a 10 per cent return on half of the invested capital, with the other half going into the FTSE 100.

The fund opened to new money on 23 April and will remain open until 4 June, subject to availability. It has a scheduled start date of 19 July. Exactly half of investors’ funds will be deposited into the 50:50 one year fixed-rate bond.

Investors receive a fixed return of 10 per cent gross p.a./A.E.R. on this sum at the end of the one-year term. This bond matures on 19 June 2002, when investors have full access to these funds.

The other half is deposited into a 50:50 five-year guaranteed capital equity bond. The return on this account is dependent on the performance of the FTSE 100 index which measures the top 100 companies in the UK.

Investors will receive an interest return which will be equal to 60 per cent of the growth of the FTSE 100 index over the five-year period. Growth in the FTSE 100 index is measured by comparing the end value of the index against the start value on the start date. Minimum investment is £10,000 (£5,000 into each account) and the maximum is £1 million (£500,000 into each account).
