A year on from the Edwards Report into the conduct of offshore finance centres and Jersey can feel proud that it emerged looking rather good. Indeed, the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) has chosen to regard the report as something of an endorsement of the island’s existing high standards.

Meanwhile, the Investment Business Law and the Proceeds of Crime Law, set in motion just prior to the publication of the Edwards Report, have been significant in establishing the strength of Jersey financial facilities. No-one would deny that some changes are needed, but the willingness to make these changes is very apparent.
