Best
International Finance Centre
Isle of Man
Upon receiving the award, Allan Bell, MHK, Treasury Minister,
commented: “It is a great honour to receive this
prestigious award from such a highly regarded new media
publication as Investment International.
“The Award recognises the Isle of Man’s strength
as a leading international financial centre of choice.
To be proactively voted for by Investment International’s
readers is a fantastic independent endorsement. It reflects,
I believe, both the strength of Isle of Man-based institutions
and professionals and the innovative range of products
and services available on Island.
2006 saw a very active year for the Island: In the February
Budget a zero rate of corporate tax and a £100,000
cap on personal income tax for each individual were introduced.
In addition, last November saw the implementation of the
new Companies Act 2006 which complements the zero rate
tax strategy and represents an unbeatable offering for
international business. This integrated tax package delivers
a range of benefits specifically designed to make the
Isle of Man even more attractive for inward investment
by corporates, entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals.
Bell said: “I intend to both maintain and extend
the Isle of Man’s competitive edge in 2007; The
Island is committed to providing to its clients and their
advisers around the world expert services and products
that respond to their changing needs and further to innovate
in line with developing market conditions.”
