New deputy directors at Guernsey Financial Services Commission

Five new deputy directors have been appointed at the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. They will fill four vacant positions  besides one newly created. All the successful candidates have been recruited from inside the Commission.

The new post is a second seputy director of the Investment Business Division, in order to strengthen the department. The appointments are: Emma Bailey and Louise Bougourd in the Investment  Business Division, Audrey Branch in the Banking Division, Fiona Crocker in the Fiduciary Services Division and Sylvia Sirett in the Policy and International Affairs Directorate.

Louise has a law degree and  Masters in Corporate Governance, and is a Chartered Banker and Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments. She joined the Commission in 2000 as a Senior Analyst, having previously worked at Credit Suisse.

Emma has a Masters in Corporate Governance, and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. She started her career at Rothschild Asset Management before joining the Commission in 2002.

Audrey, who has recently passed the English Bar Vocational Course, has a law degree from the Nottingham Law School, and a Masters in Corporate Governance. She is a Chartered Secretary, a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments and a Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. She joined the Commission in 1994.

Fiona has an economics degree.  Before joining the Commission, she worked as a reporter for the Guernsey Press, and started at the Commission in 1999. She is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments.

Sylvia joined the Commission in 2003 and became Assistant Director of Policy and International Affairs in 2007. She previously worked for Credit Suisse as Assistant Manager in the Compliance Department. She is a Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Nik van Leuven, Director General of the Commission, said: ‘We were delighted with the calibre of applicants for these roles, and we have appointed post holders of high knowledge, skill and experience, thus, providing the Commission with a strong cohort of Deputy Directors.
