Market Outlook

- US : US markets rose last week with the Dow Jones Industrial Average posting its steepest two-week rally since 2000. Most corporate results were above estimates while an increase in home resales signaled an economic recovery is shaping. Stocks from Automobile & Parts, Real Estate and Insurance led the advance. Only Banks lost ground last week. On a technical point of view, as US indices broke above MT resistances, further recovery is likely in the coming weeks.

- EUROPE : European indices rose last week with some indices posting their best winning run for years. All sectors gained last week especially Basic Ressources, Construction and Automobile & Parts. Only Technology shares closed the week broadly flat. Technically, as indices broke above key resistances, further recovery is expected in the weeks ahead.

Company preview

EADS (EUR 12.98 ; 7.1% ; EAD ; EAD.PA)
Tuesday, EADS could announce 1H net income of E638m compared to E403m a year ago on revenue of E19.2bln vs E19.7bln. Last week, its unit, Airbus agreed to abandon a plan for temporary layoffs in Spain. Recently, the group increased the cost-savings target of its "Future EADS" program to between E300m-E400m from the previous target of E200m, according to La Tribune's report. Technically, the stock remains on the upside above a key level at E12.3. A test of the E13 resistance should be in sight before a further bounce to E14.2.

BP (GBp 510.9 ; 3.28% ; BP/ ; BP.L)
On the same day, BP Plc is expected to deliver 2Q pre-tax profit of $4.77bln compared with $9.46bln a year earlier. Earlier, the Co was in talks with its potential Chinese partners to set up a refinery in China. In addition, the Co's price target was raised to 600p from 575p at UBS with a "buy" recommendation. From a technical view, the stock stands well above its 20D and 50D MAs. Hence, above 490p, look for 525p and 540p in extension.

France Telecom (EUR 16.55 ; 1.16% ; FTE ; FTE.PA)
On Wednesday, France Telecom may release 1H net income of appx. E2.4bln vs E2.67bln a year ago on revenue of E25.5bln vs E26.3bln. Recently, CEO Didier Lombard said the Co planned to create jobs in France. Earlier, the Co's new offer for the rest of Egyptian Company for Mobile Services was rejected. Technically, the stock is still under pressure below a key resistance area between E16.7 and E17. As long as this zone holds on the upside, a further pullback is more likely to E15.85 and then to E15.5.

EDF (EUR 31.82 ; 0.7% ; EDF ; EDF.PA)
Thursdy, EDF may release 1H net income of E2.73bln compared with appx. E3.1bln a year ago. Earlier, the French government said electricity prices in the country could have an "extremely limited" rise this year. Besides, the Cos power-transmission unit said electricity consumption in France this year would be lower than 2008. From a technical view, the stock remains capped by a huge resistance at E33.5. In which case, a further decline should occur to E30.65 in the coming days.

Anglo American (GBp 1916 ; 6.03% ; AAL ; AAL.L)
On Friday, Anglo American Plc, a global diversified mining company, is expected to unveil 1H pre-tax profit of around $1.75bln vs $6.45bln last year. Earlier, the Co named John Parker as its new Chairman, succeeding Mark Moody-Stuart. Technically, the stock continued to rebound last week, backed by its rising 20D and 50D MAs. Hence, we expect a short-term consolidation before a further bounce to 2150p.
