An open forum for all European microfinance professionals interested in microfinance in developing countries will be held in November. Entitled the European Microfinance Week 2009, the event takes place between November 24th – 26th. The European Microfinance Week 2009 will bring together policy-makers, leaders and experts, to discuss current issues in microfinance. Organised by the largest multi-stakeholder microfinance network, the European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP), the event takes place in Luxembourg’s historical Neumünster conference centre. Join in to learn more about a sustainable and rapidly expanding sector and become part of those who shape it. As the world economy faces tremendous new challenges, microfinance has proved to be an efficient and socially responsible means to relieve poverty and support sustainable economic development. The European Microfinance Week 2009 is a forum open to all European microfinance professionals interested in microfinance in developing countries, where key players provide an overview of the latest issues in a sector which has diversified into a variety of financial services with social objectives. “Learning from the global crisis” and “Opening perspectives beyond the crisis” are some of the topics addressed by microfinance’s leading experts during the three-day programme. Among the issues raised are opportunities in microinsurance, transparency and supervision, environment and microfinance, social responsibility and funding in times of crisis.
