Inland Revenue to stop calling taxpayers customers'

As part of a new mission statement from the UK Inland Revenue, taxpayers will no longer be called customers a piece of management speak that has often annoyed taxpayers who do not feel particularly like customers while handing over money.

The Revenues new mission statement includes lofty sentiments including integrity, diversity and engagement. One accountant, quoted in the UK press, commented, Wibble, wibble wibble. I wonder how much this statement cost to produce and what practical use it is?

A Revenue spokesperson said, We have always used the word customer because we have always wanted to treat people who work with us and pay their taxes as if they have a choice.

The spokesperson was unable to explain what the new mission statement means. Most taxpayers labour under the naive belief that the Revenue collects taxes.
