Assetz assess latest lending figures

Property investment and development company Assetz has taken a positive stance on the UK property market.

Stuart Law, Chief Executive of Assetz, has commented on the Bank of England’s lending figures for August, in the light of UK property portal Zoopla’s claim that house valuations are rising by £57 per day.
“The Bank of England’s announcement that total net lending to individuals was up between July and August is both encouraging and expected. Furthermore, the figures show that the property market was the driving force, as the £0.7 billion total increase was entirely down to a £1 billion increase in lending secured on dwellings, indicating that the banks, consumers or both now have more confidence in the property market.
“Coming off the back of Zoopla’s recent survey, which found that house prices are increasing by an average of £57 per day, this latest piece of positive market data should convince any remaining pessimists that the market has entered into a period of stability at the very least, and more likely, sustained recovery.”
