A major step forward providing buyers with insurance backed guarantees has been taken in Spain. The move will ensure legal support and financial compensation should there be a future problem.‘From the moment we were approached by the Director of Safe Purchase Spain, we felt it was a good idea,’ say Henk and Marcel Otten, Directors of Realis Reality, a Dutch company which has been operating on the Costa Blanca for over 20 years. ‘Sadly, the industry is not protected. Anyone can start a real estate agency with or without any knowledge of the property market. As a long established company we feel it is very important that buyers can rely on the professionalism of their chosen agency which is why this is such a very good initiative. Agencies who pride themselves on the quality of their service will feel that this Guarantee gives certified assurances to buyers that the property is unencumbered. ‘The Spanish market has had some bad press in recent years and together with the world’s credit crunch, prices have inevitably dropped. However, on the positive side, there really has never been a better time to buy and at Realis Realty all the homes we market now offer buyers the protection of a 20 year Safe Purchase Guarantee.’
