African Dream
A private island in Lake Victoria – one of
the world’s largest freshwater lakes – is for
sale for a mere £300,000. Sanga Island features 38 acres
and includes a three bedroom thatched house built in 2002.
Along with the property comes four local employees, a few
goats, chickens and sheep, plus the opportunity to fish and
sail in a lake the size of Ireland. The leasehold runs until
August 2037. A 20-minute speed boat ride takes you to the
coast; from there a 15-minute drive puts you in Uganda’s
capital Kampala.

exclusive and fashionable areas, with no shortage of luxury
hotels and beaches or golf and tennis clubs. In an early 1900s
villa, for sale is a spacious apartment on two floors with
breathtaking panoramic views over the Lagoon and the city.
Meticulously restored, the property includes three bedrooms
and a private parking place.

Bermuda Residential property in Bermuda is booming and the
last quarter of 2004 saw the highest volume of sales throughout
the whole year. So far in 2005 there are no signs of a market
correction, due in part to a greater availability of mortgages,
thanks to banks having eased mortgage restrictions.
NEW VIRGIN TERRITORY
Virgin Atlantic has launched a new service from
Sydney to Hong Kong and London, long on the planning board
and a dream come true for the airline’s chairman Sir
Richard Branson, who says: “Virgin Atlantic’s
passengers will be able to link up with our sister airline
Virgin Blue to fly from Sydney to every major city in Australia.”
Another new arrival at Virgin is a state-of-the-art luxurious
clubhouse at Hong Kong’s international airport to cater
for passengers flying to the UK and Sydney.
Virgin Atlantic flies to 23 destinations worldwide including
St. Lucia in the Caribbean, a region where Virgin’s
many existing destinations will be augmented with flights
to Havana and Nassau later this year. See www.virgin-atlantic.com
