International
property round-up
On offer
France – Côte d’Azur
“Water, water everywhere, nor any drop to
drink” – but plenty of places to swim, boat, fish
and enjoy any number of watersports – is an apt description
of Marina Bay. No shortage of canals and a mere 100 metres
from the sea, this new cluster of properties is adjacent to
Port Grimaum, the famed development of homes lining a network
of canals with private moorings just 100 metres from the Mediterranean
and a short drive from St Tropez on the Côte d’Azur.
MGM Properties, one of France’s largest development
companies, is offering ten terraced two-, three- and four-bedroom
terraced houses with private moorings from €313,000
upwards. Finished externally in pastoral shades – and
in keeping with the character of Port Grimaum – each
home has a garden and a large sun terrace stretching out over
the canal. A communal pool is included in the scheme. Standard
features include full-fitted kitchens, spacious inbuilt wardrobes
and tiled floors. Double-glazed windows are fitted with electric
shutters and there is a large communal pool.

France – Gascony
On the edge of a hamlet in the Midi-Pyrénées
is a six bedroom, five-bathroom maison bourgeoise on three
floors including a full-height basement. Sun terraces and
swimming pool are south-facing toward the Pyrenees Mountains.
A former stable building with an upper level and central open
bay provides space for garaging, or alternatively could be
converted to accommodation. The property is surrounded by
hedges on three sides with a high wall and wrought-iron gates
to screen the property in its private setting off a minor
road.

Florida
The environs of Disneyland are good news for kids
and not bad for rental potential either. Orlando’s Reunion
Resort and Club on 931 hectares (2,300 acres) of former pasture
and orange groves is a development with three golf courses
– designed by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson
– a six-acre waterpark with its own beach and children’s
play area, plus a tennis stadium designed to host ‘pro-am’
championships.
Set for completion this spring is the latest phase of 7,000
houses and condominiums. Hiking, biking and horse-riding trails
are part of the scheme, which will incorporate stables for
20 horses and an equestrian centre. Other elements of the
five-star resort feature round-the-clock ‘room service’
to residents in their homes and a spa and fitness centre,
as well as village shops, cafés, boutiques, bars and
restaurants. The average price of a four-bedroom family home
with a swimming pool and a comprehensive furnishing package
– from beds to brooms – is $800,000.
